FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Why does Toyota Stadium need to be renovated?

Since its opening in 2005, Toyota Stadium has been a pioneering force in soccer-specific stadiums in the United States, serving as a vibrant home for Frisco ISD athletics, FC Dallas, and numerous other events. Over nearly two decades, it has become a cherished venue where fans, students, families, and music lovers have created unforgettable memories. In addition to hosting more than 17 MLS matches annually, Toyota Stadium is the venue for high-profile events such as Frisco ISD high school football games, the Scooter’s Coffee Frisco Bowl, the FCS Championship game, international friendlies, and the National Soccer Hall of Fame induction ceremony. With hundreds of thousands of fans and visitors passing through its gates each year, the stadium has had a significant economic impact of over $1.5 billion on the community.

However, as Toyota Stadium approaches its 20th anniversary, it has become one of the oldest venues in Major League Soccer. To continue offering exceptional experiences to fans, partners, players and staff, we need to modernize the facility. This renovation is essential to enhance comfort, introduce cutting-edge technology and create inviting spaces that reflect the evolving needs and expectations of our community. By investing in this renovation, in collaboration with the City of Frisco, Frisco ISD, the Frisco Community Development Corporation and the Frisco Economic Development Corporation, we are committed to transforming Toyota Stadium into a world-class venue that will continue to be a cornerstone of the community for years to come.

What is planned for the renovation?

This will be a transformative renovation that will help us deliver elevated experiences to guests who visits Toyota Stadium.

Some conceptual highlights of the proposed renovation include:

  • A proposed 175% increase in club seating capacity, 58% increase in suite capacity and a more than 10% increase in overall stadium seating capacity.
  • New audio, video and technology capabilities, including new scoreboards, video signage and a state-of-the-art sound system.
  • Two new suite levels offering a variety of configurations for suite-holders to enjoy the game and entertain clients.
  • Modern club spaces on both the east and west sides of the stadium that offer elevated food, beverage and entertaining options.
  • A proposed 26% increase in the number of restrooms throughout the venue.
  • A planned 59% increase in concession points-of-sale to provide faster concession service before and during events.
  • An iconic, recognizable roof structure to help shade the majority of seats throughout the Toyota Stadium bowl.
  • Innovative press box, media and broadcast suites designed to deliver state-of-the-art media upgrades for broadcast and print media.
  • Improved accessibility throughout the facility, that allows guests with physical differences to have better mobility within the venue.
What will happen to FC Dallas Season Ticket Members’ seats during the renovation?

As we work through this renovation plan, our Season Ticket Member team has finalized a thoughtful plan to address Season Ticket Members who might be impacted by renovations during the 2025 season. An FC Dallas Season Ticket Member representative will contact Season Ticket Members with additional details. Complete information for Season Ticket Members can also be found on FCDallas.com/MembershipInfo.

This project is committed to supporting minority-owned and small business enterprises and is working with our construction and architectural partners, Manhattan Construction and HKS Architects, to ensure a diverse candidate pool.

Will the stadium be closed during renovations?

The goal for our construction plan is to progress through a phased process over the next few years that allow Toyota Stadium to be operational for MLS matches, Frisco ISD games, and the National Soccer Hall of Fame induction ceremony, among other events. We are working collaboratively with our architects and construction team to produce the most pragmatic approach while focusing on minimizing the disruption to FC Dallas Season Ticket Members, fans and staff.
